A 2018 graduate of Guntersville, Alabama High School and a talented artist, Belinda Jensen-Marise died June 9. 2019, just days shy of her 19th birthday.
A memorial service will be Sunday, June 30th at 2pm at the Guntersville Public Library.
She was a college student at Nossi College of Art in Nashville and was getting ready to return home.
Art was her passion, according to her family. As a student at Guntersville High School, she won many awards in art. She won 2nd place in photography in the Congressional Art Show in 2018. She received the President's award in the scholastic competition at Art on the Lake in 2017.
She was well-known to Guntersville Public Library patrons as she worked there during high school. "It was her favorite place to be when she was not out drawing or taking pictures," her mother Rhonda Marise said.
The Guntersville Library hosted a Harry Potter-themed costume party in 2017 and Belinda won the costume contest with her Bellatrix Lastrange costume.
"Most of all, she just loved having fun," her mother said. "She loved life. She was a very caring person who always tried to help other people."
Belinda is survived by her mother, Rhonda Marise; her grandmother, Doris Farrar; grandparents, James and Irene Marise; her sister and best friend, Veronica; her brother, Michael Burton; a cousin, Raymond Marise; her boyfriend, Jacob Melcher and his parents Gregory Melcher and Michael and Suzy Rau.
Tennessee Cremation Care is honored to be entrusted with Belinda's care. Online condolences may be made on her tribute wall.
