Connie Diane (Sisk) Gates

Connie Diane (Sisk) Gates of Madison, TN, passed away on August 14, 2023, due to health complications at the age of 79. Connie was born the daughter of Bailey Eugene Sisk and Frances Josephine (Payne) Sisk of Clarksville, TN on March 27, 1944.

Connie was a homemaker until all her children began attending school. She started her working career sewing police uniforms for Guthrie Garments in Guthrie, Kentucky. Sewing has always been a true passion of hers. Connie later made boots for Acme Boot Company. Connie moved to Nashville, TN where she worked for 30 years at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center until she retired in early 2022, at the age of 77. She grew up as a member of the Church of Christ. Connie loved traveling the world. Whether it be to the United Kingdom to visit her son, taking a cruise ship with her kids and grandkids, or across a few states to Oklahoma to see what winds were sweeping down the plains. Connie was always ready for an adventure.

Connie was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She will be forever missed. Connie is survived by her children: Raymond (Ellen) Gates of Madison, TN, Diane (Janette Bunney) Gates of Cushing, OK, Felicia Maestas of Clarksville, TN, and Monte (Heidi) Gates of England, UK. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Kellie (Chris) Atchison and their children: Dawon, Damareon, and Jaeli Atchison of Broken Arrow, OK, Tyler (Whitney) Walls of Cushing, OK, Freddy Maestas of Nashville, TN; Ashley Brown and her
children, Olive and Cornelious Cooper of Cushing, OK; James “Cody” Maestas and his children, Madison and James Maestas of Pleasant View, TN, and Kaeli Maestas of Clarksville, TN.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Stella Rosemond Hawkins and her husband James Rudolph Hawkins; brother, Joe Clifford Sisk; and sister, Ida Eugenia Deal and her husband Col Virgil “Thomas” Deal, Jr., MD.

Connie left her earthly body to join her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 14, 2023. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will forever miss her laugh, healing hugs, her cat naps, and her loving presence. May her legacy live on through each of those that she loved.

A Graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, TN will be held in her honor on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 1:00 PM.
