Freda Lorraine Hughes, better known as Grandma, passed peacefully at home on February 6, 2021, at the age of 88, surrounded by her family. Born to George and Mary Seeds of Downingtown, PA she was raised as a tough country girl in Amish country before marrying and traveling the country.

Freda was a homemaker for the majority of her life, as well as, a talented piano player, seamstress, amazing cook, and Grandma to all. Her family would say you never left her house hungry. She has a spaghetti sauce recipe that rivals the pros and a lemon meringue pie that would knock your socks off. Freda was the matriarch of a huge family that included 7 children, 22 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren. Some of the families fondest memories were of listening to her tell stories about how she kept up with her 7 wild children in Carson, CA.

In addition to her parents, Freda is preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Reifsnyder and Mildred Seeds; husband, Roy Hughes, Sr.; sons, Roy Hughes Jr. and Daniel Hughes; daughter, Carolyn Gomez, 3 babies lost before she could hold them, and 2 grandbabies lost in infancy.

She is survived by her sons, Gilbert Hughes(Sonia), Robert (Patrick) Hughes (Mary), and Michael Hughes, Sr.; daughters, Lori Villalpando and Rebecca Dennis, and an army of grandchildren and great grandchildren to carry on her legacy.
