Henry Mare, 36, was born to Hendrik Mare and Carol Bradford in Kempton Park, South Africa on March 27, 1987. He returned home on
July 27, 2023. He moved to the United States in 1999 and started his life as an American. He joined the Army fresh out of high school and devoted
nine years of his life to this country. Serving two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan during that time. After he retired from the military he enrolled in the HERO program, where he continued his devotion to this country working with Homeland Security Investigations.
As devoted as his time was to the Army and his job, there was nothing else he was more devoted to than his children, Nathan and Madelyn. He adored them more than anything else and devoted his life to their happiness and ensuring they had everything they could ever imagine. When he wasn’t enjoying his time with his family you could find him outside doing anything. Hunting, fishing, sailing, and of course mastering all things grilled and smoked. Those that were lucky enough to know Henry knew the size of his heart and the willingness he had to go above and beyond to help anyone that needed it.
In addition to his parents, Henry is survived by his sister, Erin McKechnie; children, Nathan and Madelyn Mare; girlfriend, Alison Boland; and too
many friends to name. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and cheer that we were all fortunate enough to be a part of.
Funeral arrangements will be made at a later date.
