Hilda Bernice (Phelps) Greer

Hilda Bernice Greer, 74, of Dickson, TN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on May 13, 1948 in Luray, TN to the late William Robert (Bob) and Phyllis Harmon Phelps.

She loved quilting and helping anyone she could. She worked with Developmental Services (Clarksville and Dickson locations) after retiring from State Industries (Ashland City, TN). She liked staying busy. She worked, met with her quilt guild, and visited family and friends whenever she could. She loved her church family (2nd Street Church of Christ, Dickson, TN) and participated in services when able. She also loved doing whatever she could for her grandkids and great grandkids.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her step-brother, William Everet Phelps of California; six sisters: Alberta Davis, Elrena Edmondson, Elma Kathryn (Davis) Sweat of Lexington, TN, Gladys Lorene Cornish, Virgia Mae Shields, and Mary Cornelia Greer of Henderson, TN; and two sons, Stacey Leonard Greer and Alvin Darrell Greer.

She is survived by her children: Tracey C. Greer, Deborah K. Greer, and Carlton M. Greer of Dickson, TN, and Lana S. Hammonds of Murfreesboro, TN; five very special grandchildren: Ondia S. Norfleet (Jeffrey) of Clarksville, TN, Devon J. Greer of White Bluff, TN, Eryka R. Hammonds of Lithonia, GA, Errol (Jayson) R. Hammonds, Jr. of Henrico, VA, and Maurice A. Greer of Nashville, TN; nine precious great-grandchildren; three nieces; and three nephews.

Hilda A.K.A. HB, Aunt Bernice, Mom, Momma, Mam Maw, and Bernie will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace with the Lord.

Per her request, a small private memorial with family and friends will be held at a later date.
