Joe Alan Middleton, 79, passed from this life on February 14, 2024. Joe and his wife, Jean Middleton, relocated to Dover, Tennessee, in late 2012. Prior to Tennessee they made their home in Buford, Georgia, for 13 years, and in Illinois for the first 20 years of their lives together.
Joe was born on August 26, 1944, in Pinckneyville, Illinois, to Josephine (Wagner) and Alvin Middleton. Joe married Jean Schmeiderer on May 11, 1979, and she became an instant mother to Dale Alan (Kenosha, WI), Blaine Lee (Jennifer, Scheller, IL), and Joseph ‘Mic’ (Gwen, Nashville, IL). Their family would grow to include nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, and all were greatly loved.
Also left to mourn his loss are Joe’s brothers, Jan (Marsha, Kingwood, TX) and Paul (Victor, MT); sisters-in-law, Diane Allen (Tim, Bonnie, IL), and Connie Alexander (Nashville, IL); a host of nieces and nephews; and friends made and kept throughout his earlier life and the life that he shared with his beloved wife, Jean, in Illinois, Georgia and Tennessee. Joe was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church (Dover, TN), where he was well-loved by a family of believers who love the Lord. Joe loved the outdoors, particularly fishing and arrowhead hunting, and “leading the pack” in his hometown Boy Scout Troop; and he was an avid fan of all sports, with a memory for statistics that never seemed to waver.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Alan Dean Middleton and Bryce Middleton.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for March 16, 2024. Thoughts and sentiments may be sent to RememberingJoeMiddleton@gmail.com.
In lieu of flowers the family will accept your donations to the Women on Mission group at Walnut Grove Baptist Church, or Boy Scout Troop 127 (Nashville, IL).
Please visit Joe's tribute wall and share a memory with the family.
