Marilyn Elizabeth (Downing) Armitage

Marilyn E. Armitage Downing, 78, of White House, TN passed away after a brief illness on August 11, 2022. She was born in Middletown, CT on July 13, 1944 to John Wiley Downing and Marie Elizabeth Sundgren.

Marilyn lived in the Athol/Orange, MA area for the majority of her life. She enjoyed country music and loved attending shows. She also enjoyed viewing wildlife and bird watching, as well as, rides to nowhere. Revisiting the Connecticut shore would always bring a smile to her face.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Charles "Chuck" Armitage and granddaughter, Crystal L. Harris Ricker.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Shirley A. Edwards Jones and partner, Larry Gross of Hagerstown, Maryland, Wendy A. Whitney Jones and husband, Theodore of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and Michael D. Jones and fiancé, Kimberly Farley of White House, Tennessee; grandchildren: Nicole (Ryan) Gingrich, Kristen (Kevin) Lerch, Jason Ricker, Troy (Jeannine) Ricker, and Brittany Van Vleck; and eight great grandchildren: Aiden, Alex, Emma, Ava, Julian, Emily, Autumn, and Isabel.

A Graveside Service will be held at a future date to be determined by the family in the spring of 2023. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter.
