Michael Lee Gaunt

July 1, 1941 — August 12, 2023

We're deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Michael Lee Gaunt, affectionately known as Mike. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on July 1, 1941, and peacefully left us on August 12th, 2023, at 4:00 PM in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 82.

Mike was the son of Charles and Doris Gaunt, and he had a younger brother named Patrick, whom he held close to his heart. He is survived by his eight children: Erika, Stacey, Misty, Dallas, Denver, Houston, April, and Waco. Additionally, he was blessed with nine grandchildren. He remained connected with his ex-wife, his true love, Hilda Berry.

For over 40 years, Mike dedicated himself to supporting his family as a skilled sprinkler fitter in fire protection. He embraced this role with unwavering dedication.

Beyond his work, Mike was a self-taught expert in Mayan ruins, a subject that fascinated him. In 2008, he realized his lifelong dream by visiting the Chichen Itza ruins, an experience he cherished above all others. He enjoyed collecting knives as a hobby, a passion he passed down to his children. Mike loved smoking barbeque, making the best chicken and brisket his kids always loved. Above all, his greatest love was reserved for his kids. Mike’s favorite saying was, “Like they say in Russia, “Adios Mama.” With humor and kindness, he left us, but his memory will always remain. He will be missed more than any words could ever describe.
