Paul Xavier Fletcher: 1971-2020

Mr. Paul Xavier Fletcher was born January 28, 1971, in Poughkeepsie, New York. The darling son of George and Ornetha Fletcher.

In 1974, the family relocated to Dallas, Texas where Paul spent his childhood and a portion of his preteen years. As an only child, he enjoyed a fun and close relationship with his first cousins who live a short driving distance away. He studied piano while enrolled at Life Christian School. But his interest in playing the piano first began during a vacation in Miami, at about six years of age, where he was introduced to the piano by his grandmother, Victoria Brown.

In 1984, Paul was relocated to Miami, Florida. There he continued his study of the piano through private lessons. He attended Richmond Heights Middle School and later graduated from Miami Killian Senior High School (Class of 1990).

Paul was quite talented. Along with playing the piano, he loved drawing, singing (mostly Reggae), song writing and the Martial Arts. In his teen years, he joined a small band of his peers and played the keyboard for a short spell.

In 1990, still a teen, Paul chose to have it his way. He embarked upon a life on his own that would take him to and fro. He lived in different places and cities in Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Arizona. Echoing Frank Sinatra, Paul would say "Yes, there were times when he bit off more than he could chew, but through it all, when there was doubt, he ate it up and spit it out. He faced it all and he stood tall. And did it his way." The last and final move for Paul (approximately 2 or 3 years ago) was Ashland City, Tennessee. There his main focus was raising farm animals. However, he was also employed with McDonald’s working weekends as a cook.

Paul passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2020, as he slept. Preceding him in death were his father: George "Junior"; grandparents: George Watt and Lula Bell Fletcher, Edward Alexander, Sr.; uncles: Robert "Bob" Fletcher, Dennis "Ed" Fletcher, Bishop Edward Alexander, Jr.; a fiancé whose life was taken in an automobile accident during the early ‘90s.

Cherished memories will linger on in the hearts of his mother: Ornetha Cail; grandmother: Victoria (Robert) Brown; aunts: Oreatha (Harry) Bryant, Geneva Alexander Jackson, Deloris Finkley Alexander, Mary (Walter) Arnold, Minnie (Roosevelt) Houston, Lula (Alfred) Bryant, Priscilla (Felton) Johnson, Alfreda (Arthur) Span, Nancy Fletcher; great aunt: Verdie Taylor; a host of cousins, and friends. In addition, the Hunter family, the Cail family, and Ian (Brandy) Kirk and family of Ashland City, Tennessee who were like family to Paul; giving unfailing love and support.
