Thomas Dandridge Aiken

Thomas “Dan” Dandridge Aiken, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022, in Clarksville, TN. He was born on April 24, 1944, in Washington D.C. and was the youngest son of Marshall Dandridge Aiken and Julia Elizabeth Blumenauer.

Dan was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He grew up in Silver Spring, MD. While attending Northwood High School, he was a member of the marching band and football team. After high school, he went to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. After college, he served in the United States Air Force at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA during the Vietnam War. He was an ordained Deacon in the Episcopal Church and served the Lord and the church in that capacity for many years in Albuquerque, NM. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville and loved the many friends he made there while teaching the Men’s Bible Study Group. Dan had a huge heart and unlimited compassion, helping anyone in need in any way he could. He was a lifelong Washington Redskins fan and jazz music lover.

Dan was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of 56 years, Lynette Gray Aiken, and an amazing father to his four children: Michael Aiken, Janet Aiken, Cari Dobbs, and Robert Aiken. In addition to his wife and children, he leaves behind his six grandchildren: Kelsie Salazar, Katie Aiken, Trent Aiken, Kobie Aiken, Sydney Aiken, and Kimmie Aiken; son-in-law, Charles Dobbs; daughter-in-law, Camie Aiken; beloved dog, Queenie; and many loved ones and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Marshall Aiken and Gary Schaeffer Aiken; and his daughter, Janet Aiken.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church, 213 Main St, Clarksville, TN 37040, at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the National Kidney Foundation and the American Diabetes Association.
