Tynia Deidre (Shackelford) Pollock passed away peacefully at home on January 9, 2025, at the age of 74. Although a longtime resident of South Florida, she found joy during her retirement years in Clarksville, TN, where she lived with her cherished husband of 22 years, Clarence Pollock.Tynia was born on December 16, 1950 to Marian Nesbitt Shackelford and Clarence Shackelford, Jr in Washington, DC. She graduated from Northwestern High School in Miami, Florida in 1968. Following the establishment of her family, she pursued her passion for social work, ultimately earning a Master of Social Work from Florida State University in 1995.
A beacon of strength and resilience, Tynia was the heart of her family , embodying the role of matriarch. Her deep devotion to her husband and children was evident in the unwavering support, wisdom, and love she extended to everyone around her. She enjoyed collecting fine housewares, watching classic western films, reading cookbooks, and shopping network programs. She adored her grandchildren and showered them with love to the fullest of her abilities. While she will be profoundly missed, her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
Tynia is survived by her husband, Clarence Pollock; father, Clarence Shackelford, Jr.; children, Tiffany Collins, Nicole (Dunstan) Johnson-Barnes, stepchildren Blake (Eboni) Pollock, Keva Pollock, Labonique Pollock, Starla (Calvin) Pollock-Blake, Monifia Williams Pollock, and Terrance Pollock; grandchildren, Amara and Beau Barnes; step grandchildren Milaka, Justin, and Johnny Pollock, Koyah Hawkins, Trecko Woodard, Tonique, Anthony, and Alani Edwards, Garren Wyatts, and Brittney Harris; sister Brenda Shackelford; brother Lawrence (Verna) Sconiers; Goddaughter, Pertosal Smith; and an abundance of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marian Nesbitt Shackelford; brother Donell Freeman; and uncles Joseph Shackelford and Bishop Samuel P. Nesbitt.
Tynia's legacy of love and commitment to her family will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will be remembered fondly by those whose lives she touched. As we honor her memory, we carry forward her spirit of love, resilience, and dedication to family, ensuring that her influence remains a guiding light in our lives. Tynia will forever be cherished and remembered.
